Briefly introduce yourself

My name is Jade Stavri, I'm a fashion editor/freelance stylist/vintage clothing company owner and all round del boy.

How did you get to where you are today and would you do anything differently?

I got to where I am today by sheer perseverance and graft. Not taking no for an answer and going above and beyond the call of duty. I wouldn't change anything actually as I'm a firm believer of looking to the future and never looking back on the past. 

Who helped you along the way?

I would have to say my parents, they inspire and pushed me to get where I am now and are still constantly giving me encouragement to achieve more goals.

What are the things you enjoy most about your job?

Things I enjoy about my job are going out to GFW or LFW and searching for those talented people may it be a designer a stylist or a photographer. I love being able to give them a platform where they can showcase their work with maybe a little guidance. I love going out and starting and building relationships with PR's and Brands. Some of the people I've met through work have turned out to be some of my closest friends.

Who or what inspires you creatively?

I think the team I work with inspire me, always something random popping out of someone’s mouth. I will admit that is normally me with the randomness.

Your favourite new or established designer (pick one and explain why?)

Jasper Garvida!! Oh boy!! He is amazing!! I was lucky enough to style his S/S12 collection at LFW and I have to say Jasper is one of THE hardest working designers I know and he has the most amazing team behind him as well. His last collection was literally an amazing feast on your eyes. I love the label as it's not just doing the same things season after season he's changing and ever evolving. I totally love that as I kind of see myself as always developing and evolving also. Plus from what I've seen from his A/W12 collection it’s literally going to blow everyone away.

What era in fashion do you feel you can relate to most and why?

I don't feel I relate to just one particular era as all the era's from the 1920's flapper dresses to the 1980's shoulder pads make me love fashion even more.

Favourite city in the world?

Well I'm born and bred in London and I feel it's the city that keeps making my dreams happen so it is definitely my fave city in the world. But I do also love Tokyo for it’s buzz.

 Most cherished item in your closet at the moment?

I would have to say my nan’s 1940's black diamond mink coat -  I wear it every day and it keeps me so warm and I always feel safe wearing it as it’s a little piece of my nan.

Favourite trend for this season?

I'm loving a bit of sports luxe especially as the Olympics are coming up so it's very fitting.

One garment/ accessory every girl should own?

A good handbag. It doesn't have to be designer but just has to be well made and can slip into any occasion and look timeless through seasons. If you have one of those then a pair of Spanx! 

When styling do you tend to favour vintage, high street or designer?

I tend to mix them all up as I own a vintage clothing company called Scarlet Rage and it's great to mix high street pieces with some vintage especially as they are both now so readily available to everyone.

If Jade Stavri could choose anyone to style and the location of the shoot, who and where would this be?

It would have to be a toss up between Beyonce or Nicki Minaj as there both fierce independent women and are totally up for doing different things with their styling and looks and I totally love that!! With the location I'd love it to be somewhere the artist’s and I had never been. Then it could be a new experience for all of us.

 Very rarely do we see the person behind the scenes creating the beautifully styled shoots. 

How would you describe your own personal style?

I'm a big believer that a stylist should never upstage their clients. My job is to make other people look good. Saying this I don't dress like a yob or anything but the pieces I wear are understated and simple.

 Where do you tend to shop most?

I tend to shop in Vivienne Westwood (have an obsession with that woman it's rather unhealthy), Kooples, Levi's (I only wear Levi's curve ID jeans), New Look and I also dip into my collection of vintage clothing from Scarlet Rage.

Three things we would be surprised to find out about you?

 1. I love Anchors 

2. If I hadn't become a stylist I would have been a criminal profiler

3. I occasionally drive a van.

Finally what advice would you give to any lilylovelock readers interested in the world of fashion styling?

Always assist or intern for people that inspire you. Always make sure you put a 110% effort into everything you do. It'll pay off and people will start to recognise that. Never take no for an answer!
